I am convinced that Madelyn had forgotten what rain was. She was mesmerized and watched it non-stop. Like the majority of the country, we desperately needed it.
Good thing Aunt Rachel has been staying with us for a few days and could help entertain the cooped up kiddo!
I was talking with a friend this morning on the phone and she said, "It's so annoying that everyone gripes about the drought and how dry it is, but when the rain comes they whine that it hinders their day's plans". That comment swirled around in my head for the majority of the day. I thought about how often I plead with the Lord to hear my prayers, answer them and answer them just they way that I requested them to be answered. How silly is it that I actually think I give Him "ideas". As if He is incapable of coming up with a solution on His own. And then...when He does answer them...if it doesn't fit in to what I was expecting then I sometimes allow a bad attitude to creep in because I think it messed up my plans.
Just like the rain that we desperately need but complain about when it comes, we ask for God's provision but don't want it to inconvenience us in any way.
This is something I know in my head, yet still struggle with. I'm so thankful for the rain and even more thankful for the reminder.
I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers! Isaiah 65:24, NLT
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3-4, NLT

Love this :). So true!!
ReplyDeleteHave you heard the Laura Story song Blessings? It reminds me of this post. Praise God that He sees the whole picture even when we don't and even in the "small" things. Great post!
