Allison's 3rd Birthday Party

Allison's birthday party was at Texas East Gymnastics! The kids loved it, especially my little acrobat. She was so excited to be there and it provided some active fun on her own birthday!

I wasn't sure how she would do with all the "big" kiddos but she actually did pretty well with the help of Emily!

The Birthday Girl knew just what to do! It was so cute watching her interact with all of her friends!

My sister-in-law made an awesome Arthur cake!

Happy Birthday Allison!

MK's Birthday Eve

Tonight was supposed to be Madelyn's shared birthday party with her friend Logan. However, after the week we had and Logan being sick all week, we postponed it a week. Luke's family had already made plans to be in town so we kicked off the birthday celebrations a night early!

I cannot believe my baby girl will be TWO tomorrow. I whipped up a little pink cake for her with a huge "2" on the top.
She loved all her sweet cards, especially the one with Dora on it!
Every cake these days is a "happy burtday" cake to Madelyn so she was pretty excited when we all started singing to her.
Daddy did have to show her how to blow out the candles though!

We all loved watching her eyes light up when she took a big bite out of the side!

Gigi, Papa, Great Granny, Great Aunt Ann and Aunt Kenda spoiled her for sure. She got so excited about her princess dress up shoes from Aunt Kenda!

We spent the rest of the evening watching her prance through the house in her high heels carrying her life size Dora doll (thanks Aunt Ann ;) ) around.

Happy Early Birthday, Madelyn Kate! I love you.

September 20

Moments at Grandma's house after the funeral...

Even though the pictures don't show it, the house was FULL. 50 plus people. Grandma would have loved it.

Grandma's Funeral

September 20

We said goodbye to my Grandma on Tuesday afternoon. She was a remarkable woman and while I could go on and on about all that she was to me and all that she was to my family, my Aunt Nancy said it well:

"Henrietta was many things – a loving daughter and sister, a devoted wife, a treasured mother, grandmother and great grandmother (known as “MeeMaw Fee” or simply Grandma McAfee to her grandchildren and great grandchildren), a faithful friend, diligent volunteer, and devoted Christian.  She leaves a legacy of faith, dignity, grace and quiet perseverance in the face of what often seemed like insurmountable difficulties.  She taught her family many things, including unconditional love. She was, and will continue to be, an inspiration to us all."

I love you Grandma and will miss you.
This is one of my favorite pictures. It's from Grandma's 80th Birthday Party just over eight years ago. It has most of the grandchildren and a small portion of the great grandchildren in it (can you believe there are about 20 more grandchildren/spouses and great grandchildren that either couldn't be there or have been added to the family since then?). She loved each one and made us all feel special. That's just who she was.
