88

Dear Madelyn,
Someone very special turns 88 tomorrow. MeeMaw Fee is the birthday girl! I wish that we were able to be in Oklahoma City to celebrate with her tomorrow. You have had many fun times with MeeMaw over the last two years and I am so thankful for each of those opportunities!

She is the most incredible person I have ever met.

Her life has not been without challenge yet she chose to believe that God is for us. She is faithful to her family, her friends, her church and in her relationship with Christ.

My prayer is that you may become like her. Gentle, loving, kind to everyone, smart and funny!

I love you sweet girl!

Love,
Mom

Happy Birthday Grandma McAfee!

Goodnight, Sweetheart

Dear Madelyn,
I can't believe you've been in your own bed in your own room for almost two months now! You love your bed though and go to sleep so easily. You are such a fantastic sleeper! Most nights, Daddy puts you to bed. It's your special thing. He has always loved putting you to bed. You say prayers together, give hugs and kisses and now he tucks you in.
I am in awe of how big you are getting!

I love you to the moon and back. Goodnight, sweetheart!

Love,
Mom

Sunday

I really wanted to get a picture of Madelyn looking at the camera with her Papa before church, but it just wasn't happening. That's OK though, I think these two are pretty sweet together.
Papa dropped Madelyn off at her Sunday School class. She adores her class. I think it's mainly because her teachers are awesome! After church we ate at a yummy restaurant in Edom called The Shed. Definitely Southern comfort food! Then we made our way to the airport in Dallas to drop Papa off.

It was so good to see him! Next up, Gigi and Great Granny are coming to visit this week and we can't wait!

Papa's in town!

Friday night MK's Papa made it in to town for a quick weekend trip. Madelyn was thrilled to wake up Saturday morning and find that he was still here. They had a little multi-generational band going on in the living room!
Off the subject...MK had this toy when she was a baby. We've been going through things to see what we want to keep and what we would rather get rid of. This is something we wanted to save but since her eyes saw it, she's wanted to play with it!

Of course our Saturday (just like every other day of the week) consisted of a little painting!

Most of the day was spent hanging out with Papa! What a great way to start the weekend!

MK and Mac

Our sweet friends, Nathan and Elise were in town from Houston and came by for brunch on Friday. We always love spending time with them! Mac has grown so much since the last time we saw him and he is on the move now.

It was quite comical trying to get a good picture of the two munchkins together:

I may or may not have used bribery to get that last picture! Thank you green jelly bean!

MK pushed the "shopper in training" cart for the first time at Fresh. Of course she loved it. The only thing she was less than thrilled about was the fact that we didn't let her fill it up. Ha!
I got started on some fall items for Bitter Berry Boutique!
MK watched a couple of shows on the iPhone in between Luke and I after waking up at 4:30am.
How did we survive without a video monitor??
One of my favorite parts of my typical day (everyday) is our time together playing in MK's room.

On the way out the door to go play with a friend...
MK thinks she has to bring the whole house every time we leave. It's so stinking cute though so we let her!

Got to hold this little guy again.
MK and I took Emily to ballet class. She was precious and Madelyn was ready to run out there with her.
Once Madelyn got restless we went back to the car. Madelyn helped herself to see what was leftover in Em's lunchbox!
It actually rained. Not just a little sprinkle, a solid downpour!
The sunset and cooler evening that followed was amazing.

While Madelyn painted and ate breakfast, I got supplies ready for canvas craft night.
I asked MK what she wanted to do this afternoon. She requested a bath with "yots" (lots) of bubbles. Wish granted.

What a busy/fun/wild/good week!

morning ritual

Madelyn Kate has painted every morning this week. She loves it. We love to watch her. It's somewhat of a morning ritual around here these days. Her art book is going to fill up fast at this rate!

what a day!

The only "normal" part of our day today was spending a couple of hours with some sweet friends! Madelyn loved playing with Logan and I enjoyed talking to Mariann and holding Jackson (of course!).
The big kids even tried out a couple of Jackson's bouncy seats. Considering how calm they looked in them, I may just have to pull Madelyn's back out!
These two boys are absolutely precious! It has been so fun watching Logan grow alongside MK and I know it will be just as fun to watch his baby brother!
The other events of the day consisted of:
  • MK waking up at 11:30pm, 2am, 2:30am, 3am, 3:30am, 4am and 4:30am for good. Teething??
  • Breaking one of my dishes (I've never done this before).
  • I picked up diet cokes for Mariann and I at a gas station but must have driven off with them on top of the car still. Boo!
  • My phone not working for about 6 hours during the time I was supposed to meet a friend that I only had the number for stored in my phone and deliver CDs from two photo shoots.
  • Waiting from 2:45pm-3:35pm in the pick-up line to get my niece. I was only the 15-20th car back and it took over half an our to get to the front! Yikes!
  • Right when it was my turn to get her a huge storm blew in and the wind was so strong against the door they couldn't get it open.
  • I was taking her to dance, so we immediately headed that way. MK was with us so I anticipated having to keep her calm for the hour we were there, but I didn't anticipate wet paint on the walls! Oh dear. After watching her sweet cousin dance for about half an hour on my hip (I was shocked but she was mesmerized!!), she got restless so we decided to head to the car. And then there was rain. Lots and lots of {much needed} rain. As we were walking to the car someone wheeled in and splashed us with lots of water. MK was soaked and crying. Thankfully we had a change of clothes in the car!
  • On the way home I got pulled over for going too slow.
And the one that put it all in to perspective:
  • Luke picks up a lot of the students directly from school on Wednesday in the church van and brings them to the church to hang out before the service. After church he takes one van full and another couple takes a van full of kids home. The other van was just about finished with drop offs when they were hit by a woman who ran a stop sign. She hit them so hard that she knocked them in to a ditch, flipped it on it's side and then the van bounced back up. Two of the passengers were taken to the hospital via ambulance. Thankfully, everyone is OK besides obvious soreness and bruises I am sure!
What a weird/not-so-great day! Minus the van accident, the rest of it was so typical of a bad day that I couldn't help but laugh. I am so glad it's over! Bring it on, Thursday!
