TWO

Dear Madelyn Kate,
I can hardly believe that you are two years old. Time has truly passed too quickly, but one thing is for sure, we've enjoyed the journey! Your Daddy and I love you more than we could have ever imagined. You are a delightful little girl and make each day a new adventure.
You seem to have grown so much taller lately. You are about 33 inches tall and weigh about 24 pounds. You wear a size 6 1/2 to 7 shoe and fill out 24 months clothes. I mainly buy you size 2T clothes now so that you have plenty of room to grow. You still don't have all of your teeth in, but they seem to be coming through slowly but surely. You had your first hair cut this month and it seems to have grown quite a bit since then.
You talk non stop. Instead of getting excited about you speaking in full sentences, we joke that you've been speaking in full paragraphs for a while now. Your vocabulary is vast. I love to hear your sweet little voice. When you say, "I love you", my heart melts. Recently you've started singing, "You love me! You love me! You love me!", over and over again. I'm so glad that you know that we love you! I think I may record it that way when you are 13 and wonder why we tell you that you can't do something just because your friends are, I can play it.
You LOVE people. You speak to everyone you meet. You love to shake hands and greet everyone with a, "Good morning!" or "Hi! How are you?". Recently at the grocery store, I am confident you talked to every single person you saw. You spoke with at least 30 people. Of course, your sweetness won them over.
You started Mother's Day Out twice a month this month too. You've only been twice so far, but you love it! I'm hoping that you will learn to share with your friends while you are there. You adore Dora the Explorer. You watch her on Netflix and each episode is 24 minutes long. I don't love TV so this has been a give and take for us. You do love it though, so you usually get to watch one in the morning and one in the evening. I am not in to character items at all, but seeing your sweet face light up has lead to some concessions in this area.

Some of your favorite things to eat, do and play are:
  • counting
  • marching
  • singing
  • dancing
  • playing the guitar
  • smiling
  • painting
  • playing hide and go seek
  • avacadoes
  • red grapes
  • chicken nuggets
  • giving hugs and kisses
  • bath time
  • "school"
  • exploring
  • the zoo
  • reading
  • taking care of your baby dolls
  • playing with the castle
  • doll house
  • dressing up
  • putting on "makeup"
  • helping me bake
  • anything outdoors
  • Greek yogurt
  • Dora, Dora and more Dora
  • Stripes and Ellie
  • play dough
  • your cousins, Emily and Allison
Those are just some of your favorite things to do. You are always up for something new!

You love to boss people around and are such a leader! You are constantly trying to get everyone up and doing something together! "Let's go! Come on guys, let's do it!"
I could dote on you forever. The tender way you play with your baby dolls, your sheer excitement when you walk through the doors of your Sunday School class, or how you make up your own songs and then sing them to us. Seriously, I could go on forever.

The most important thing I want you to know, at 2 years old or 20, is that you are loved. Loved by Mommy and Daddy. Loved by all your family. Most importantly, loved by God.

You are a delight, Madelyn Kate! I am looking forward to another fun year with you!

Love,
Mom

2nd Birthday Photo Shoot!

Madelyn and her buddy Logan have birthdays within a week of each other so Mariann and I decided to have their birthday parties together. We did a fun little photo shoot with the two of them to use for the invites and here are some of my favorites...

I still cannot believe my little girl is TWO?!?! They are the cutest two-year-olds I've ever seen!

September Birthday Bash

We had the September Birthday Bash tonight to celebrate the magnificent seven: Luke (9-16), my mom (9-17), Allison (9-18), Emily (9-24), Madelyn (9-24), Rhonda (9-26), and Luke's dad (9-29)! I made some strawberry cupcakes, fudge brownies, a white cake with butter cream icing and bought an Italian Cream Cake to cover all the bases (and taste buds).
It was good to have so much of our family under one roof celebrating! We definitely missed the ones who weren't able to be there!
Emily, Nana (Rhonda) and Allison! It was a chore to get both girls to smile at the same time.
Madelyn loves Uncle Jarrod or Jeered as she calls him!

We sang Happy Birthday to them and it got pretty funny when we got to the part where we were supposed to say the birthday person's name! It definitely made for a good laugh from everyone.

It's not a party without stick on mustaches right?

By the end of the night it looked like Christmas morning with the three little girls opening all of their gifts.

Maddie Kate loved all of her time with Papa and Gigi. She is not going to know what to do with an empty house tomorrow afternoon!
