Texas State Capitol

We all slept so good after three days of wedding festivities. We stayed at the Omni Hotel in South Austin. Have I ever mentioned how much I love Hotwire? It's awesome. We always stay at hotels that are 3.5 or 4 stars and never pay more than $65 per night.

After sleeping in a bit, we got ready, loaded the car and drove a few miles down the road to the Texas State Capitol!
Madelyn could not have cared less about the building at first. All she wanted to do was run wild on the beautiful lawn. We let her for a little bit before walking up from the West gate.

There is so much detail. Even the door hinges are gorgeous!

I had not been since high school (or junior high-can't remember?), but it was much more fun to see it through Madelyn's eyes and expressions! She was pretty impressed.

It was a fun little visit even though we didn't stay long. When we were at the Alamo last spring Luke mentioned that the summer before Madelyn takes Texas History in school he wants to take her on a "Tour of Texas" so I am sure she will be back some day (if not before then!).
