MK's Apple Chips

MK is a fruit consumer. She eats any fruit we put in front of her and most days that's all she eats! She loves vegetables too, but fruit would definitely make the cut for her top five favorite things on earth. Recently she has fallen in love with apple chips. They have them at Subway and after eating them there twice, she fell in love.

Since we don't go to Subway every day, I have been making them at home for her. They are super easy and delicious!

How to make apple chips:
  • Usually, I just slice up one or two small apples. These were two small Gala apples. Make sure they are pretty close in thickness or they won't bake evenly and you will have a hard time knowing when they are done.
  •  Lay them out flat, not overlapping, on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. MK loved this job.

  •  Watch for sneaky children taking samples of apples and putting the uneaten portion back on the cookie sheet (especially if these are for guests).

  •  Laugh when said sneaky child realizes she is caught.
  • If you want them to be a little extra sweet (we don't always do this...they are delicious with or without), sprinkle with a cinnamon sugar mixture (I make this and keep it in a little tupperware dish pretty much at all times for different things...cinnamon toast, sprinkling a tiny bit on new veggies I want MK to try and like etc).
  •  If I do this I normally only sprinkle about 1 tsp over the whole batch of apples but I am confident there were a few apples that had almost that much on them thanks to MK.
  •  Bake at 200 degrees for an hour or so. We like them crispy like chips. I've tried making them at higher temperatures for shorter periods but this way brings about our favorite results.
  •  Enjoy! Oh, and thank me because not only will everyone love them, your house will smell awesome too!
