day date and early Christmas present

Last Thursday Luke gave me my Christmas present. I didn't know what it was, what we were doing or where we were going until we were on the road, but I was so excited when I found out. I really enjoy going to antique stores. Love to look at old things. We don't usually buy much, but most of the fun is in the looking to me. Needless to say, when he told me we were going to Mineola, a great East Texas town known for it's antique stores, I was all smiles.

The last trip we made to Mineola was in the wee hours of the morning for something totally different than an afternoon of shopping. We were there to work on ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition house that was being built. You can read about it here. When Luke said we were going to Mineola, I was giddy thinking that we were going to be able to see the finished (because it definitely wasn't the day we worked on it) house. It took us a few minutes to remember where it was, but it was not that hard. Luke said he was not stopping so I had to snap a quick drive by picture. Ha! The funny thing is, the front wall that I ended up with a picture of, was the same wall that I spent hours helping to work on! Does this classify us as stalkers??Once we saw the house up close (and Madelyn got a little nap in), we made our way to downtown Mineola. There were so many cute stores. Lots of fun things to look at. One of Luke's favorite sweets is fudge so when we saw the little "homemade fudge" counter, I knew that we would be taking a little home.
Madelyn was all smiles as Luke was telling her about the goodness of fudge!
I think she even got a little excited (sorry baby girl, no fudge for you yet!).
The only thing better than a peaceful stroll around antique stores, is going in to them with a goof ball husband.
We took a few pictures by one of the old rail cars at the train station. It was super windy, but even if it wasn't Madelyn's hair would still probably look like that.

While we were standing there a train came through.

MK the conductor :)

It was such a fun day. We found a few neat things, but the best part was spending an uninterrupted day with my two favorite people.
Thanks mister. I love you!
