I meant to post this last night but was way too busy enjoying our baby girl! Madelyn had her first doctor's appointment yesterday. Her pediatrician was out sick so we had to see one of his partners. Since the tests are still pending and this pediatrician was unfamiliar with our little girl, we really did not get any "new" news. The one thing we did find out...Madelyn is gaining weight!!! This was such a relief to me because there is no way to really tell how much she is eating and an inability to gain makes the likelihood of a metabolic problem greater than if she had the ability to gain weight. Her lowest weight from the hospital was taken with LOTS of cords, the ventilator and her diaper on (so it was a little heavier than it really was) was 5 pounds 12 ounces. When we left the hospital on Tuesday she weighed in at 6 pounds 3.6 ounces. Yesterday she weighed 6 pounds 5 ounces!
We are waiting on a call back to hear from her doctor when they would like to see her. They may want her to come in tomorrow or Monday just to check in on her and hopefully have some test results back from the labs that were drawn on Monday.
While I was answering a thousand questions (yes I am dramatic) on Madelyn's paperwork at the doctor's office, Luke undressed her for the big weigh in. He is such a natural with her. I think he was able to dress her back faster than I could and without any fussing at all.
Her little head looks so small next to his hands.
Madelyn loves her car seat. When we got home she was sleeping so peacefully that we just let her rest. She needed it after the all nighter she pulled the night before!! She slept for 2 1/2 hours like this until Luke couldn't take it anymore and snatched her out of it to love on her!
After Luke got home from church last night, he came straight in the door, set his stuff down and practically raced to Madelyn. I think he was in the door and had her in his arms in 30 seconds tops. I walked in to the living room to see them snuggled up together. He sure does love his girl.
Today we are taking it easy. Enjoying some quiet time. Just the 3 of us. It is hard to believe that 2 weeks ago today our little miracle entered the world. What a blessing she is to us.

Happy 2 week birthday, sweetie!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful update! I, along with half of the world, was beginning to have withdrawal pains when I didn't find an update this morning :)
ReplyDeleteAnd, before you feel like you need to give us all a daily update, please don't feel that pressure. Like you said, newborns often like to stay up at night, so hopefully you're resting when she is. Much as we love your sweet stories, we know you're all very busy these days.
Love, Nancy
Love her outfit! She is so cute =)
ReplyDeleteGlad Maddie is gaining weight :) I remember those days, we went back every week for a weight check for a month and a half until she got back to birth weight. So happy to see yall happy and home, yall are a BEAUTIFUL family. Lovin the outfit that she had on at the doctor's office, which looks very familiar, what doctor are you using?
