piglet

It is so hard to believe that our baby girl is 3 weeks old! She is growing every day...she weighed in at 7 pounds 1.2 ounces before we were discharged from the hospital. Her doctor affectionately called her a little piglet. We are so thankful that she is such a good eater and has continued to gain weight. I don't think I have ever celebrated anyone's weight gain so much in my life. She is finally starting to fill out some of her newborn clothes! A lot of them are still a little big, but she is just too long for preemie clothes! Her hair seems to be growing too. I love playing with it. It is so soft.

Madelyn's Great Aunts and Great Grandma sent Madelyn some game day gear just in time for the big OU vs. T X game tomorrow...She wore the hat tonight in anticipation for the fun tomorrow. I bet you can't guess where her Great Grandma and Great Aunts live?? She and her daddy will be OU'd out for the game tomorrow!

I can't get over how cute this little girl is...

She is having tons of fun at our little unexpected stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house. I know they are having tons of fun too! Luke met with the cleaning company that is working at the house today. They think it will take several days to dry the downstairs and then we will have to wait until the air clears. Maybe we will be able to head home by early next week.

Today is my brother's birthday so Madelyn and I surprised him with a cake at work while Luke was with the cleaning company. It was an Italian Cream Cake. It looked so good! Madelyn loved seeing her uncle! Happy Birthday Jarrod!

Madelyn seems to be doing well on the apnea monitor. It has gone off a few times for low respirations but all have seemed to be false alarms. I am not sure her medicine is really helping much yet, but hopefully it will soon. It is so sad to see her hurt. A little while after she eats it is obvious that her reflux is acting up. Madelyn does not really cry unless her diaper is full or her belly is empty...so when she gets fussy we know exactly why.

It seems like these last 3 weeks have been filled with some of the most trying moments that I have ever experienced. We have walked through dark days mixed with joyous ones. We have met trials. Faced strange circumstances. Celebrated triumphs. In all of this, we have met some amazing people. The other day, Madelyn's doctor from the NICU stopped by ((even though she was off that day)) to check on our girl. It made such an impression on me. She truly cares about what she does. She truly cared about Madelyn. Without talking about her faith...without telling us with words that she is a believer...she showed us the light of Christ through her actions. It is evident she is a believer, yet she didn't have to say anything at all. It has really made me think about how much we talk about our faith...I pray that what we do points people to Jesus more than what we say.

  3. we lived with an apnea monitor with both our children..some funny moments when it went off in the middle of the nite and sleep deprived adults are trying to get to the baby first...but so grateful we had it..it isn't an easy road to go, but I pray that it will be a joyous one..so many precious moments are coming your way..soak them up and store them in your heart for they go by fast..
